Overview

The West Balkans Partnership is a cooperation, which has come about as a result of genuine Christian fellowship among the Bible Societies of Albania, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia over the last decade. They share similar political, social and religious opportunities and challenges. The BSs of the WBP have co-operated in practical ways in the past and are currently co-operating successfully on the joint projects they have developed so far providing a good model of sharing resources and vision among smaller Bible Societies within the United Bible Societies fellowship.

In the past five years of cooperation the five Bible Societies (BSs) have been able to benefit from each-other’s experience. They had the possibility to carry out joint projects, to inspire people from different denominations to meet together, they have started new Bible study groups and distributed different Bible study materials. The West Balkan Partnership (WBP) has been able to bring together in the name of the Bible message, young people from countries that face deep misunderstandings and conflicts. The reputation of the national BSs among the churches have gained a lot from the fact that they are working together and setting a great example among the Christian community of active Christian unity. They strongly believe that by collaborating together as WBP they will thrive and be more effective in fulfilling their missions, being better witnesses to the Christian message of reconciliation and fellowship to the Balkan people which has been characterized by ethnic and religious hatred. Working together in such a partnership, also, embodies perfectly all the best practices of UBS in a great Christian spirit.
